身为前检察官的私家侦探矢代日菜子（若村麻由美 饰）和自由杂志记者濑谷直人（布川敏和 饰）前往作曲家山崎家询问新晋歌手石原由香里（上原美佐 饰）的下落，遭遇一场意外之灾。直人被勒死，日菜子被下药晕倒。结果日菜子被警方认定为重要嫌疑人。
日菜子发誓要查出凶手，在直人的房间里，她找到了山崎的死亡诊断书，这是伊豆的柳泽医生开具的，山崎的死亡是由于潜水时发生事故。日菜子在当地警察局看到了由香里的照片，终于找到住院的由香里，但她患上了失忆症，什么也记不起来。
日菜子请求她的前辈检察官前岛十志男（笕利夫 饰）的帮助。在与前岛的助手服部久（北村总一郎 饰）的谈话中，曾告诉直人由香里在山崎家的作词家樱井引起了日菜子的怀疑……
