英国喜剧演员保罗·默顿(Paul Merton)在2006年国庆节前后进入中国，六个星期以内游览北京，河南，兰州，西藏，重庆，成都，桂林，广州，上海做了这个4集的记录片。
第1集《北京》，北京这个地方，就中国人来说，也是一个比较“特殊”的地方，它保留了大部分中国的传统文化，老外看到破旧的胡同和大宅院，大量的老房子被推倒开始造新房，而英国人甚至使用了一个不太好的词眼：Evict-驱逐。显然他们对于这种强制发展的行为不是很赞同。
第2集《河南省》，保罗去了少林，尝试学习武术。结识了两位蟋蟀拳击手，品尝了火锅，发现了中国的宠物美容院......
第3集《桂林》，老外来到成都，体验了川剧的魅力，感受了中医的奥妙。游览了桂林山水，见到了“传说中的”捕鱼方式。但最吸引他的还是广州，充满了时尚气息，换句话说也就是西方气息。
